MPLS can be used to facilitate layer 3 IP VPNs, layer 2 VPNs, Quality of Service (QoS), Class of Service (CoS) and to guarantee Service Level Agreements.

Bottom line, MPLS can be used to create highly-scalable IP networks with layer 2 level security as well as easy network configuration, management, and provisioning.

High Speed Internet Access via Ethernet
High Speed Internet Access via Ethernet local access connects end user Ethernet local area networks (LANs) to the Internet over a metropolitan wide area networks (WANs) at speeds ranging from 1 megabit per second (Mbps) up to 1 gigabit per second (Gbps). Internet access via Ethernet is an "always on", flat-rate service that offers faster, more cost effective Internet access than is available through traditional telecommunication access technologies such as T1 / T3 or E1 / E3 connections.

Internet access via Ethernet is becoming more and more popular to meet the growing demand for dynamic high bandwidth increases. For example, an increase from 10 to 100 Mbps can be accomplished by a High Speed Internet over Ethernet provider by simple changing the settings on already installed Ethernet switches. This scalability is cost effective for customers in that bandwidth can be increased or decreased quickly and easily, on demand, without the necessity of adding or changing datacom equipment as would be required with T1 / T3 or E1 / E3 local access lines.

DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) Service:
Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) is a voice and data access service that supports both voice and data communication across a copper plain old telephone serivce (POTS) line and significantly increases the digital capacity of analog POTS access lines.

POTS local loop speed is increased by up to 50 times when a DSL modem is attached at the customer premise and a Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexer (DSLAM) is connected to the local access loop at the local telephone company central office (CO).

DSL service is delverd as Asymmetric DSL (ADSL) which is the most common application for Internet access, where fast downstream is required, but slow upstream is acceptable, and as Symmetric DSL (SDSL) which supports high speed access across the local access loop in both directions.

Wireless Internet Service:
High-speed satellite and microwave Internet connections for business can replace or back up traditional terrestrial landlines such as Internet T1s and Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) service. With wireless IInternet service in place as your primary or backup Internet connection, you can always count on low-latency connection to the Internet that means you will have an "always up", "never down", "zero outage" service that eliminates wasted time and increases productivity.

Don't Pay For Your T1 Router!

Written by: Patrick Oborn - Dec 1, 2008

With the drop in the economy since 1999 came a drop in usage of network capacity. This spells opportunity for broadband buyers. Carriers are bending over backward trying to get people to use their networks. A few years ago hardware was something you had to worry about yourself. Today, most service providers are willing to throw in a t1 router valued between $750 to $3,000 with your new service contract. Providers have become extremely competitive and one of the ways they are trying to attract customers is by making the start-up process as simple as possible.

Service providers have tried many different methods of attracting customers and simplifying the start-up process. Credit checks have been simplified, application paperwork been reduced in size, and there are increasingly discounts available for new customers. The free router when from a special promotion offered to increase month end sales to becoming a standard part of the product offering. It is now the exception to the norm to find providers that do not offer a router with their service.

If you're in the market for a new T1 service be aware that you should be able to get a router with your service. If the provider does not offer this service don't be afraid to ask for it and if they do offer it make sure you get the best router possible. Remember, it's a buyers market and you will likely be able to add on a few "extra" when you get your new service. The best way to ensure that you aren't leaving anything on the table is use a broker who knows the service providers and knows how to get you as much as possible. Consider using one of the brokers at ShopforT1.com.
